Forum President's Message
Dear Lions, Harri Ala-Kulju, PID President of the forum
After a break of nearly 30 years, Finland is organizing the Europa Forum. And it has been over 20 years since the Forum was last held in Scandinavia. So, it really is time to wish you, our European friends, welcome to Finland and the Finnish Europa Forum.

The Forum will be hosted by Scandinavia’s biggest inland city, Tampere, a vibrant centre of commerce, industry and education. Tampere offers excellent venues for organizing large conferences. By being scenically located between two large lakes, it also offers natural beauty and splendid views.

Tampere is easily accessible with direct flights from many European cities. From Helsinki, Tampere can be reached by bus or train in less than 2 hours.

The theme of the Forum is Connecting Generations. All people, regardless of age, are united by a desire to do good and help others. We share a common goal, but work in different ways. We will organize a high-level seminar with top specialists devoted to this theme. The keynote speaker of the Forum is Mr Martti Ahtisaari, a former president of Finland and the Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2008, with his talk on the challanges of Europe.

We hope that you will return home with good memories of the Forum, Finland and Finns, as well as your meetings with Lions friends.

After the Forum, you can take part in a Lions Golf Tournament.

Harri Ala-Kulju
PID, President of the Forum
